Return of Dipu!

The best of friends, Can change a frown,
Into a smile, When you feel down.
The best of friends, Will understand,
Your little trials, And lend a hand.
The best of friends, Will always share,
Your secret dreams, Because they care.
The best of friends, Worth more than gold,
Give all the love, A heart can hold.

Exactly 170 days later, Dipu has returned to Bangladesh from Bhutan today. Just got my Best Friend back after six months! Today spent the whole evening with him. He seems to be a little bit thin (foods of Bhutan didn’t suit him 🙂 ). Whatever it is he is just the same jolly and funny person as usual. While he was away, I realized the true essence of friendship. For the last six years we didn’t spend such a long term interval. It was really hard for both of us. But at last it has ended. I am one of the few luckiest person to having Dipu as a close friend.

Friendship

My new office room.

In the new campus of AUST I’ve gotten my new office room. As a faculty member of Dept. of EEE it was assumed that unlike the previous campus, we’ll got our rooms. As due to lack of facilities, previous campus was unable to provide most of us a room (even a chair and table). We were glad that those terrible experiences are not returned in this new campus. Actually I didn’t get a whole room rather an one third of a room. I’ve to share my room with two other faculty members (Shariful Islam and Biplob Kumar Das), but whatever it is, I’ve gotten my own table and chair! 😛

I know it is childish, but can’t wait to share the fresh pics of my new office room with my readers. The room is literally neat and clean, as we have not decorated it yet! So here goes the couple of first day first show snapshots 😀

First Day First Show

Now, AUST has moved to its’ permanent new campus. Today was the opening of that campus. Students were all in a festive mode as they became a part of a history. It was just awesome! But there is some scarcity of facilities. In EEE department, faculty room has not been decorated at all! As I said earlier, laboratories are still incompleted. And we are lack of one lab, that is Simulation Lab. It surprised me when I found out that faculty spaces for all other departments has allready been decorated except EEE department. Ever since I joined in AUST, I found that EEE department is always been suppressed by the authority, though it is the largest department of the university with the large number of Faculties as well as students. But the authority does not take care of this department at all though a majority fund is come from EEE departemnt.

However, it is all our desire that this movement to a permanent campus will help AUST to increase its’ reputation in Bangladesh and aboard.

Following is a picture, where VC is giving speech today at 10:30 am as a part of the opening ceremony of the new campus. Sorry for the poor quality [as I took this one by my mobile phone].

The Rain: a glimpse of past

When I am writing this post, there is a heavy rainfall outside my window. The cold soothing breeze is flooded into my room. This is not rainy season in Bangladesh. But rain in this time with rapid gusty winds or to be precisely storm is known as “KAALBOISHAKHI JHOR”. This is considered as the harbinger of Boishakh, the first month of Bangla new year. This stormy weather reminds me something very familiar which was in the past phase of my life.

For the first three years in IUT, my room was in 5th level (4th floor) which is the top most level in IUT. From our front balcony a clear view of surroundings is possible to enjoy as there is no high rise buildings outside IUT. Those storm mostly formed during the evening. When we sensed something stormy is going to formed, we all gathered in our balcony and raise our eyes to the south. We could clearly see the pitch black clouds coming toward us. All of a sudden a gusty wind began to blow and it really blew everything (dust, leaves etc) it got in front. And like a quick rider the pitch black clouds came with heavy rainfall. We were still on the balcony (though we were wet). All the environment become chilled with the rain drops. Sometimes there was ice-segment falling with rain. Have you ever taste it! It’s not have any special taste like sweet or sour, though it was fun. One of my roommates enjoyed to get shower in rain but wearing a raincoat!

Its just marvelous to see a storm forming in front of you! When I thought of those days, I really want to return in IUT. No one can ever tell how much IUT gave me, not even me! Just see the following picture that has been taken just after a heavy downfall. The red roads are sparkling and shinning just like mirrors. This is the front road of our dormitory (South Hall).

Day in the Country

Don’t be confused that I am writing a travel experience. This was the title of an essay that my little sis gave me to write for her. One of her friends told her that this essay was suggested by “some” famous school teacher which is immense important for her upcoming SSC exam. She found the essay nowhere then came to me for writing it.

When I began to write I discovered that I’ve almost forgotten the rules for essay writing for SSC level. Whatever I can remember, I wrote my last essay in the HSC exam, that was in 2002. Six years and I didn’t write any essay. Don’t think that I could write magnificent essays at that time. Actually, I didn’t used to memorize the essays like the other students. I just created them in my exam papers! I don’t know how could I do that at that time, but the writings were quite well (again don’t think they were magnificent).

Rural scenario

But at last I managed to write down the essay. Don’t ask me – how? I myself don’t know! But I’ve done it – that is the point. And more of that, my sis liked that! And my satisfaction is that I can still write an essay like my childhood. 😀

Nostalgia

That was March 2, 2000. I went for my SSC exam, for the first time (and last time ever 🙂 ). That was a big step for me in my life. I was appeared in some kind of real exam which would left its’ ever lasting effect in my whole life. Actually that was not my first time public exam, as I had appeared in government scholarship exams, both primary and junior program. I was used to sit for public exams. But those were not as vast as SSC exam. Just imagine millions of students are attending the same exam in same day through out whole Bangladesh! That’s a tremendous feeling!

Nostalgia

In our family there is tradition of giving gifts as well as blessings to the SSC candidate from the elders. Last week before the exam, our house was almost remained packed with the guests who came to visit me. And my duty was to ask them to pray for me for the upcoming exam. Some close relatives came along with sweets and cakes (pithaa). I got a huge amount of gifts, to which I didn’t get much time to pay attention (’cause exam was knocking at door). My all senses were collapsed by the exam. What a cherished memory that was!

Those days were again came back to my memory now a days because of my little sister. My sis is going to appear SSC exam this year, to be precisely on March 27. Exactly one week is remaining. And like my days, well wishers and relatives are begun to swarm our home to visit her. My sis is already in little bit panic about the exam. She is a good student but always is in tense during any kind of exam. Now she is completing her last-moment preparations.

Please pray to the Almighty for her colossal success in the upcoming SSC exam. May Allah help her in this regard.

Ekushey Boi Mela 2008

Today I went to Bangla Academy Boimela. For the last two weeks I just sorted out a list of books that has to be bought from the fair. As usual my sister helped me in that case. I felt the same emotion that I felt every year in boimela when I entered the entrance gate. All the publishing houses were colored with colorful covers of new as well as old books. It was just like a festival, a festival of books. All the renowned publishing houses were crowded with people as they publishes most of the books written by popular writers. I am one of the fan of Muhammad Zafar Iqbal. And as usual I bought his latest sci-fi and teen-adventure books. I’ve been searching for some old but appealing books that I’ve searched in many places. This time in Bishwashahittya Kendro, I got three of them. These are “Jokey’r Dhon” by Hemendra, “Chadey’r Pahaar” by Bivutybhushon and a story collection of Porshuram.

Boimela 2008

Unlike other years, Dipu was not with me this year in Boi Mela. Last several years, we just spent hours after hours in Boimela by just comparing the books. Dipu has a good taste in transliterated books. Some times we just bought books by seeing it’s front and rear cover. If we didn’t like the book then we just blaming the author for such a book 🙂 !

I was disappointed by the UNMAD stall. UNMAD is a cartoon magazine like MAD. Every year they brought some really hilarious funny posters and stickers which were sold like hot cakes. But today I didn’t find anything like that in their stall except some copies of their magazine issues.

What ever, I don’t have so much time to write this post, because more than fifteen fresh books are waiting for me. And I can assure that for a few dayz, I’ll not be available in my blog for the same purpose. 🙂

Busy Bee!

I am feeling like a busy bee. Life suddenly becomes busier now a days. It is the end of the Fall 2007 semester in AUST and the preparatory leave for the students to prepare themselves for the upcoming semester final has been started. all the teachers are doing actually nothing in this leave. But my fate is somewhat different! I got the job of planning the class schedule for the next semester (Spring 2008) for EEE department. Planning the class schedule of EEE department of AUST is considered the most cumbersome job. Because of the large body of both students and faculties. Moreover, next semester AUST is going to it’s permanent campus in Tejgaon. And in new building, EEE department is deprived of sufficient number of rooms. Yeah, I used the word DEPRIVE. Because ever since I joined in AUST, I saw that EEE department is not treated as it should be like other departments. New phenomena is Class room shortage in new building. AUST may provide only 8 (or less) rooms for the upcoming semester to EEE department to accommodate approximately 1200 students! I don’t know how I’ll finish the schedule. If the schedule is finished somehow students’ll not get rest between the classes or labs. It’s gonna be a tight schedule for the EEE department in the Spring 2008!

Routine

And offcourse thanks to Ahmed bhai who’ve helped me very much in setting question papers for the awaiting exam. Next semester some of our colleagues will leave AUST. Already Assistant professor Rafiul Hossain has left AUST for UIU. He is really one of the fewest people who are expert in VLSI. Two of our lecturers Ms. Sadia Moriam and Mr. Ziaur Rahman will leave AUST at the end of this February. Another lecturer Mrs. Nazia Farha will take leave for the next whole semester. I’ll really miss them.
