Rejuvenation of my site & the binary day

It’s been a long time that, I am maintaining my sites and blogs. Yes… you are reading correctly, there is a S after the words SITE & BLOG. Which indicates that I do have multiple sites and blogs. Having multiple websites and managing all of them is really a tough task. I was trying to merge them all into one single site so that I can manage all of them smoothly and painlessly!

Well… It seems that now I got that chance! Thanks to Russell John and his company Trance Host for giving me that chance! Now I have my own domain… WWW.QUAIUM.COM ! I put our family site in the top domain (though I have no clue what to do with a family site), and took a sub domain for my site. And then did a tremendous(!) job to merge all of my websites and blogs in to this site. And thanks to Tareq Hasan, who helped to modify the theme for my site.

Now on, I have only one site, and that is ~ WWW.ADNAN.QUAIUM.COM. For the last couples of years, I used to write Bangla blogs under the pen-name “OVRONIIL”. At that time, I also had my own blogs both in English and Bangla (where I use my real name), my personal website (I did not use wordpress.com blog for my personal website, rather I used a free hosting service) and another Bangla blog under the pseudonym “OVRONIIL”. All of those sites and blogs are now merged in to one site. Which is really a great relief for me. That means I do not have to login 3/4 sites to manage and update them all. And which also means that from now on I’ll regularly maintain my blog (i’ll try my best). It seems that, at last, I’ve owned a home… my home!

So, dear reader, if you were a regular follower of my blog(s), now it is time to update your bookmark, replace those old URL(s) of my blogs/sites with this new one! If you were not a regular follower of any of my blogs then it is time to add my blog into your bookmark list!

By the way, did you notice that today is the binary day? October 10, 2010! Which represents 10.10.10! One, zero, one, zero… and so on. Guess what! A perfect day to announce my new BINARY ADDRESS!

Happy Binary day!

A little note: I started my first blog on October 2007, exactly 3 years ago!

Now I am in Linux!

ubuntu_tux

At last I’ve shifted to Linux! I’ve removed the Windows XP completely from my laptop and installed Ubuntu there. From now officially I am a Linux user. 🙂

My laptop is running like hell, I’ve not seen such speed for last several months. At first I was little bit worried whether I would able to connect to internet. But to my surprise, Ubuntu detected my LAN card and wireless port automatically! More over it automatically installed all the drivers of my Dell Inspiron!

At the first sight I fell in love with it. And now I am totally into it! I’ve no intention to move into Windows again (as I’ve gotten rid of my gaming addiction).

Long live Open Source!

It’s Exam Time!

Well… for me it is exam time. Litterery my university exams are going on. No time for watching movie, no time for browsing, no time for blogging, no time for playing games even no time for sleeping! What a hell of life!

Exam

My exams will be continued upto first week of July. After that its summer vacation! Hope to do well in my exams, may Allah help me.

Hopefully I’ll return to my blog after my exams. I said ‘HOPEFULLY‘ because I am not into my blog as I was in past. Life becomes busy. I am humming just like a busy bee. Sometimes I asked myself – Where is my usual  happy and carefree life?

In Pathé… for Max Payne

max-payne

I first heard of Max Payne back in 2001 and I played that game after just one year. I never forget the moments that I enjoyed during the game play. What a game! It changed the definition of 3D shooting game. Astonishing graphics and tactic of game play along with Bullet Time Combo made that game fascinating to me. For the first time I saw Bullet Time in any game and which made that game more lucrative to me indeed! From that time till now Max Payne is one of my most favourite games.

I saw Mark Wahlberg first in the movie The Italian Job. He played as a thief named , who believes in robbery with no bloodshed. I’ve seen many heist films but not like The Italian Job. And Mark was the nucleus of that movie. Cool headed, intelligent, funny and good looking – no one is perfect as Charlie Croker but Mark. later I saw him in Invincible. Another good movie from Mark. And for these two movies I always like him.

Now just combine the two Max Payne and Mark Wahlberg, the result should be outstanding outcomes. That was my expectation for the newly released movie Max Payne. For the last couple of weeks I was too busy with my exams. So when I got a break in this weekend, I looked no further, with my cousin Erik, I went to Pathé to watch this movie. And I was disappointed!

I expected to watch a lot of special effects full of bullet time combo with blasting action sequences. To my disappointed the director used the bullet time combo only for twice. And it became more a detective movie rather than an action movie. The most disheartening fact is that, the movie suddenly came to an end. May be there is a plan for the sequel but that doesn’t mean to end the story all in a sudden. This could be a blockbuster movie of this year but well… it will not. The movie has been detoured from the original game, but that is not the point, the point is the movie can’t keep the hype of the game.

If you are a serious fan of Max Payne then the movie is definitely not for you!

My ONE year old Blog!

Last year, on October 19, I started this blog, more precisely I published my first post in this blog. At that time I started this blog whimsically, I had no idea whether I can continue it or not. I started it as an experiment for just to know how it is felt to have a personal blog. But after a year later I’ve to admit that blogging is fun. Specially it is more delightful when I got comments in my posts. Publishing a post and getting comments on it is just more than fun!

Within this 12 months my visitors has been increased in surprising rate. In the first month I’ve only 220 hits in my blog while this number is 2500 (average) per month now a days which concludes a total visitors of more than 30000! Yeah… its a huge number for me which I did not expect during the starting days of this blog. Thanks to all of my reader for having with me and commenting my posts in these days.

These days I am too busy with other stuffs which keep me away from my blog. That’s why I am not available here frequently! But I hope to back in blogosphere with my frequent appearance soon.

Thanks to all of my readers and commentors again for influencing me to keep this blog alive.

Eid Mubarak!

Eid Mubarak to everybody. Well… this time Eid is not that much of fun for me. I am away from my family and friends. I am going to celebrate Eid tomorrow in another country far away from my home in a totally new environment! I am terribly missing my home, my family and my friends. I am missing my Dhaka… I am missing the get together of my friends at Dhanmondi Lake… missing my mom’s Eid dishes… missing the Eid salaat with my papa in Dhanmondi Eidgah… missing my little sister… it seems that I am missing everything! But well… this is the life!

Once again… Eid Mubarak to all of my readers! May you enjoy this Eid with your family.

Cycle, Car and Baarle-Nassau

What was the last time I ride on a bicycle? Well… whatever I could remember, that day was just few days before my graduation from IUT. That was in the year 2006. It doesn’t mean that before that I was a regular cyclist. I rode that day after… let me guess… eight years. And after my last cycle riding in Bangladesh, I am now cycling everyday in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, almost everybody has (minimum) one bicycle. It is the most common transport in the Netherlands. They have completely separate lanes for the bicycles along side the streets. These lanes are made in such a manner that any one can travel the whole country with a bicycle. Let’s come to the main topic. Well… at last I’ve bought a bicycle. It is a mountain bike, having different gears on it. I am using it mainly for going to the faculty building from train station. I keep it in the Delft-Zuid station along with hundreds of other fiets. Oh I forget to mention that they call the bicycle as fiets.

And don’t think that I am going to tell you that I’ve bought a car also! Actually for the first time I’ve sat on a car’s driving seat which is in left side. It was my uncle’s car. He gave me chance to drive his car. But the left handed drive was seemed to be totally mirror looked image for me. Because I was used to drive the right hand sided cars in Bangladesh. But here when I got to the car I has to change my gears with the right hand whic is not usual for my right hand. Also the car indicators have to be controlled by left hand. It seemed that I am watching the total system through a mirror. It takes time to be adjusted with this new systems.

Here comes the most interesting part, Baarle-Nassau. Last Saturday I went there with my Mama (my uncle), Zuaer and Enka (both are neighbors). It is a border town of The Netherlands and Belgium, or to be more precisely a common town. One part of this town is in The Netherlands and other part is in Belgium! The border line divided the town into two parts. And you’re free to cross that border anytime. The interesting part is, there are some houses which has two doors; one in Netherlands and another is in Belgium. This town has town has two municipalities for two countries. Not only municipalities, but it also have two police stations, fire stations, two hospitals and so on. Just imagine suddenly you are sick and you fall just over the border line such a way that half of your body is in Belgium and the other half is in the Netherlands; what will happen then? Well they said neither of the two hospital’s ambulance will take you to the hospital, cause you’re in a confusing state. Ambulance from Belgium is allowed to take your Belgium-body-part but not the Netherlands-body-part and so the Netherlands’s ambulance. It’s Zuaer’s idea! Well, the whole town is a tourist spot. To the addition, on that Saturday, there was a rally of vintage cars. For the first time in my life I speculated the vintage cars from 1940 and later in real life instead of websites or magazine. And here comes another idea from Zuaer; it may be possible that a bathroom in a house may be on the border line. That means people of that house may have a chance to brush their teeth in Netherlands and have their bath in Belgium, and it is an everyday routine!

Border line of the Netherlands and Belgium. 'B' indicates Belgium and 'NL' indicates the Netherlands. And the border line goes through a coffee shop!

Live from The Netherlands

I first visited netherlands when I was 5 years old. After 19 years I am in this country again. As I’ve said in earlier post, I was admitted in TU Delft for MSc. And that’s the reason why I am in Netherlands. Yes, I am already in the Netherlands. I flew by British Airways last thursday (August 21) from Bangladesh and now writing this article from The Netherlands! Well… now I am in Europe.

For the first time I made my journey in air. I’ve travelled by roads, rivers and seas, but never been to sky before. That’s why I was so excited about the journey. Luckily I got the seat beside the window. And got a chance to observe the earth from a bird’s eye view. This world really looks nice from the above. All the cities and buildings are seemed like the architectural models that we see in any exibition.

So far I’ve travelled in Holland, it is a nice country. It has a tremendous natural beauty. I am staying in the Hague. And I’ve never seen any city which is occupied by so much trees. The whole country is green. It has a chilly weather and maximam time I found the weather is cloudy. A little bit drizzle is a common phenomena. Another remarkable thing is the cycle. Everybody is riding cycles. There is even a separate path for cycling. And ofcourse for the first time of my life I am seeing all the european brand cars like Ferrari, Porshe, Audi, BMW, Mini Cooper, Citroen, Mercedes Benz and lots of them.

Just day before my depurture from Bangladesh one of my students just mailed me that he has written something about me in his blog and invited me to read that article. Well… that part was really touching. I never thought I would be someone’s favorite teacher. First of all I was a newbie in teaching profession and second of all I don’t have any favorite teacher in my life. Thanks to Asif (who wrote the post) for choosing me as his favorite teacher.
