Martyred Intellectuals’ Day

The Pakistan military forces and their local collaborators — Razakar, Al-Badr and Al-Shams — abducted leading intellectuals and professionals of Bangladesh on December 14, 1971 during the Liberation War and killed them to cripple the nation intellectually. Academics, litterateurs, physicians, engineers, journalists and other eminent personalities were dragged blindfolded out of their houses and killed brutally at Rayer Bazar and in other killing fields in the city just before the two days of the victory. For the last 37 years after the independence, in this day the whole Bangladesh pays tribute to those Martyred Intellectuals.

My deepest gratitute to those best sons and daughters of the nation. Bangladesh Post Office had published a series of stamps in their memory. Here are those stamps [courtesy to BANGLAR]:

Let all of us write a Diary… together!

bangladesh-1971

It is December. It is the month of victory of Bangladesh.

This a request. A request to store the history of our country by us… all Bangladeshis… all of us. This a an attempt to capture the glorious moments of the liberation war of 1971 for us as well as for our next generation by us. For this initiative a blog has been opened. It is not quite ready yet but it will be for sure.

All Bangladeshis are kindly requested to reach this information to other Bangladeshis (especially to those who can contribute this site by their memories, stories, experiences… anything). We are waiting to taste the actual history from the history makers themselves.

We are waiting!

Khandaker Delwar Hossain: Once upon a time…

Khandaker Delwar Hossain is the Secretary General of BNP, one of the leading political party in Bangladesh. This video was recorded while he was giving speech in National Press Club of Bangladesh. First notice that, how he was reacting, it seems that he had itches in his knee or leg that’s why he is scratching his leg. But well… after a while… it was revealed that it was actually not an itch… it seemed… he was loosing his pants (or pajamas)!! 😀

And hard to believe that they are our political leaders!! Enjoy the video 🙂

Promo of Cox's Bazar for N7W.

Here in Netherlands we don’t have too many Bangladeshi TV channels. Moreover I am not a regular audience of Bangla TV channels when I was in Bangladesh. That’s why it took me weeks to learn about the video for promoting Cox’s Bazar as a new natural seven wonder.

As the official nominee supporter of Cox’s Bazar in New7Wonders, Banglalink promote this video for casting vote for Cox’s Bazar. With the background music and the natural beauty of Cox’s Bazar, the video is really marvellous. I don’t know who sang that song and who is the music director or who directed this video, but I admit that they did a wonderful job. After seeing the video, I told myself what a beautiful country we have and I didn’t watch it with that eye!

Enough talking, now enjoy the video; but don’t forget to vote Cox’s Bazar!

In Pathé… for Max Payne

max-payne

I first heard of Max Payne back in 2001 and I played that game after just one year. I never forget the moments that I enjoyed during the game play. What a game! It changed the definition of 3D shooting game. Astonishing graphics and tactic of game play along with Bullet Time Combo made that game fascinating to me. For the first time I saw Bullet Time in any game and which made that game more lucrative to me indeed! From that time till now Max Payne is one of my most favourite games.

I saw Mark Wahlberg first in the movie The Italian Job. He played as a thief named , who believes in robbery with no bloodshed. I’ve seen many heist films but not like The Italian Job. And Mark was the nucleus of that movie. Cool headed, intelligent, funny and good looking – no one is perfect as Charlie Croker but Mark. later I saw him in Invincible. Another good movie from Mark. And for these two movies I always like him.

Now just combine the two Max Payne and Mark Wahlberg, the result should be outstanding outcomes. That was my expectation for the newly released movie Max Payne. For the last couple of weeks I was too busy with my exams. So when I got a break in this weekend, I looked no further, with my cousin Erik, I went to Pathé to watch this movie. And I was disappointed!

I expected to watch a lot of special effects full of bullet time combo with blasting action sequences. To my disappointed the director used the bullet time combo only for twice. And it became more a detective movie rather than an action movie. The most disheartening fact is that, the movie suddenly came to an end. May be there is a plan for the sequel but that doesn’t mean to end the story all in a sudden. This could be a blockbuster movie of this year but well… it will not. The movie has been detoured from the original game, but that is not the point, the point is the movie can’t keep the hype of the game.

If you are a serious fan of Max Payne then the movie is definitely not for you!

Prothom Alo Blog: Another New Bangla Blogging Platform

Well… another Bangla blogging platform has appeared in Bangla Blogosphere. The name of the newborn is ProthomAlo Blog, a sister concern of renowned Bangladeshi daily newspaper Prothom Alo. This blog is developed by Hasin, Mahbub Morshed, Emran Hasan and Omi Azad; there may be others but I am aware of only these four guys. Congrats to them for making this blogging platform.

When I got the news that Prothom Alo has published a blog, I then and then hit the address. But when I went to register myself as a blogger there I got the first shock. I’ve to need an invitation code to join there! And they do not mention how to manage one! I don’t have any friends or family working in Prothom Alo, so I really don’t know how to manage the invitation code. Another thing that confuses me is their TOS. There are too many rules and regulations! Those rules are obviously good and reasonable but their quantity is huge. It would be better if two or more rules can be marched together. This would keep the compact summary of the rules same as the previous but in a less space. By the way, I have send them an email requesting for an invitation code, but didnot get any answers from them till now! Well… if anyone knows how to register in this blog please let me know.

This is the first time in Bangladesh that any newspaper starts its own Blogging platform. Obviously this is a new milestone in both Bangla Blogosphere and history of Bangla newspapers. We can hope that from now general readers can express their statements on any issue from different perspective angles. This will really enhance the information field of Bangladesh vigorously, if the blog admins are remain unbiased. And we hope that they will be unbiased till the end. Otherwise this whole thing will be messed up. Another fact is that, we can now expect that other newspapers will also publish their own blog for interacting with the readers.

It seems that Bangla Blogosphere is enriching day by day. Now a days Bangla Blogosphere has reached in a standard through Somewhere in blog and Sachalayatan. And there are other Bangla blogging platform also. And if the personal/individual Bangla blogs of WordPress and Blogspot is considered then one have to admit that Bangla Blogosphere is really big. With numerous blogs of an ever increasing rate Bangla Blogosphere is expanding day by day. We hope that Prothom Alo Blog will take this Blogosphere to a higher level.

  • See the list of Bangladeshi blogs in Blogosphere HERE.
  • Visit the Prothom Alo Blog HERE.

UPDATE: To get the invitation code registration in Prothom-Alo Blog group in Facebook is necessary. I got mine in this way. If you have any problem then it is better to email Mr. Mahbub Morshed (as only his email is shown in that group).

My ONE year old Blog!

Last year, on October 19, I started this blog, more precisely I published my first post in this blog. At that time I started this blog whimsically, I had no idea whether I can continue it or not. I started it as an experiment for just to know how it is felt to have a personal blog. But after a year later I’ve to admit that blogging is fun. Specially it is more delightful when I got comments in my posts. Publishing a post and getting comments on it is just more than fun!

Within this 12 months my visitors has been increased in surprising rate. In the first month I’ve only 220 hits in my blog while this number is 2500 (average) per month now a days which concludes a total visitors of more than 30000! Yeah… its a huge number for me which I did not expect during the starting days of this blog. Thanks to all of my reader for having with me and commenting my posts in these days.

These days I am too busy with other stuffs which keep me away from my blog. That’s why I am not available here frequently! But I hope to back in blogosphere with my frequent appearance soon.

Thanks to all of my readers and commentors again for influencing me to keep this blog alive.
