I’ve to confess that I was never fond of KDE. If you ask me ‘why’, then I’ve to tell that may be I’ve started my Linux life with Gnome and it was like ‘love at first sight’! I was introduced with Ubuntu at 2007 and to be frankly, I liked it so much that I never felt to try other distros to give a serious run. I’ve tested Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, OpenSuse, Fedora – but I’ve not taken them seriously. As a result I became a solely Ubuntu guy. My laptop still runs Ubuntu 10.04 (and I am quite happy with Lucid). This solely Ubuntu-only-background makes me a total newbie in the world of Kubuntu! But why I am using Kubuntu now? Well… after buying the new desktop, I thought to taste Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu, because (in my opinion) unity in Ubuntu is still in its early stage and I do not wanted to install Lucid in my desktop. So I choose Kubuntu Natty Narwhal to give a try. The result? I am an one-month old Kubuntu user! 😀

GIF Wars: The Power of GIFs
It seems that, Facebook is no longer the ‘only’ star of the online social network, it got company! Guess who is the competitor? Not a very tough question actually, the answer is Google’s new product Google+. Although Google hasn’t shared Google+’s user counts, but it is estimated that the total user count already surpasses 10 millions! It seems that, after the failure of Orkut, Wave and Buzz, Google has finally arrived in the social arena with the proper weapon.
The competition between Google+ and Facebook has become the important topic for debate now a days. Although nobody is killing anybody yet, but there will be some bloody blows exchanged in near future. To make it more lively and pictorial, Google+ users (or may be Google itself – who knows!) has already flaming the war by releasing a series of funny but attacking GIF images. Those images are floating around on the Internet (read Google+) on daily basis. This “GIF War” is may be a tomfoolery, but after seeing the images, I had to admit that those are really humorous as well as brilliant. Going on a war and at the same time advertising the Google+ – it is indeed a great idea.
Google+ : The new Social Network
Well… it seems that right now Google+ is the hottest web address on the planet! Those who have it can’t stop using, those who haven’t are eagerly waiting for an invitation. Yeah … you read it right! You need an invitation to use it, just like the early days of Gmail.
Google asked a few number of people to use the Google+, the new social network from Google. On June 29, Google enabled an invitation option for them so that they can invite other people to join the Google+ network. But the invitation process went like a hell. It became so frenzy that Google disabled the option just after a few hours of enabling it. Vic Gundotra, a senior vice president at Google mentioned the invitation as – “Insane demand”. So he said that, “We need to do this carefully, and in a controlled way”.

Google Translate now supports Bangla: Be a Contributor!
Yes, you read it right! Google Translate is supporting Bangla. Although it is in alpha phase, it is certainly a great initiative by Google. Being the sweetest and sixth most spoken language in all over the world, Bangla should have drawn the attention of Google Translate team much earlier. Well … better late than never … at least they’ve started it now!
I don’t know exactly when did they started the project, but Google Translate team announced it on June 21 and I’ve found it just a couple of hours ago! Then I gave it a try. It did not go for a smooth ride (it is in alpha state remember?), but I am glad that at least it works! Below is the screen shot from the Google Translate. As I said before, the translation is not perfect that much. So most of the translated portion is not accurate.

Tag Post: My Favourites
It’s been a while I’ve been tagged! Well… it’s not entirely true though. I’ve been tagged by Faisal in one of his post a few months back. But for the extra-busy-life-with-thesis-hanging-on-my-neck I couldn’t complete the ‘tagging’ at that time. Despite of my unfinished tagging job, he has done it again! This time, he has also awarded me with a beautiful “Sunshine Award”! I don’t know what does this award stand for or whether I’ll be called Mr. Sunshine, but, after all it is an award and someone awarded me. Actually this is the first time anyone awarded me with an award as a blogger. So it is special to me! Thanks a lot Faisal. Here goes the sweet Award.
