Not So Brief Me

If by any chance, you are not satisfied with my brief intro, well… here comes the Not-So-Brief one!

Who am I?

My name is Muhammad Adnan Quaium. According to the culture of Bangladesh, almost every Bangladeshi has his/her own nick name. My nick name is “Tanim”; I am quite familiar with this name among my family and friend circle. Also my friends like to call me “MAQ”, which is a combination of the initials of my full name. Well… My favorite nick is the combination of “MAQ” and “TANIM”, which is “MAQtanim“. Just a handy tip – if you ever want to find me in the world wide web, just google the keyword ‘maqtanim‘ or ‘adnan quaium‘- all the results that Google will return are actually pointed to me!

What do I think of myself?

Nobody is perfect in this earth…and I am that Nobody!”  … Just joking. Actually I am on the theory of “Know Thyself”… always meeting a new of Me… everyday! I don’t know myself completely yet. Confused? So am I! But I can assure you one thing, if you ever have an intension of meeting an actually average person who is neither apathetic nor emotional… neither brilliant nor dumb… neither obtrusive nor quiet… neither so bad nor so good… neither handsome nor a mirror-cracking material… then I am the perfect example!

Currently I am working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering of American International University of Bangladesh (AIUB).

What did I do earlier?

I was a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology for about two years. Besides that, as an Electrical Engineering student, I took part in various trainings and industrial tours. In 2009, I went to CESAR (Cabauw Experimental Site for Atmospheric Research) Observatory at Cabauw in the Netherlands as a part of our course tour. During the year 2006, I maintained a regular collaboration with some significant companies and organizations for my final year Bachelor thesis. That list includes organizations like Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited (BTCL) Dhaka, Bangladesh Railway Dhaka, One Tel Communication Limited, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regularity Commission (BTRC), Power Grid Company Bangladesh (PGCB), SCADA of Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (DESA). In 2005, I took training as a part of my curriculum in four different organizations/industries, which are: Atomic Energy Commission Bangladesh, Ghoraashal Thermal Power Plant, Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (DESA) and Satellite Earth Station Dhaka. In 2004 and 2003, I got the chance to visit some industries within which Tongi Power Station at Gazipur and Haripur power plant at Haripur are remarkable.

What was my education background?

I completed my Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science of Technical University of Delft, in The Netherlands. What is my home location?

I was born in Chittagong, the most beautiful city of Bangladesh, probably the most beautiful city in the whole world. I’ve visited a number of cities in different countries, but none of those have a mere chance to stand beside the lovely Chittagong. Though we moved to Dhaka and live there permanently, I still miss Chittagong. So right now, my home location is Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

What about my family?

I am lucky enough to have an wonderful family. My mother, my father, my wife and my sister – is my family, a tiny family but a really amazing family. They are my inspiration. I always think, whatever I would do without them!

What is my future plan?

About my future… well… I can say that I am always trying to live in the present, from where I can dream about the future. But one thing I can definitely say – I could have done good at a lot of other things that I am not doing right now or am not at least supposed to do now.
