GIF Wars: The Power of GIFs

It seems that, Facebook is no longer the ‘only’ star of the online social network, it got company! Guess who is the competitor? Not a very tough question actually, the answer is Google’s new product Google+. Although Google hasn’t shared Google+’s user counts, but it is estimated that the total user count already surpasses 10 millions! It seems that, after the failure of Orkut, Wave and Buzz, Google has finally arrived in the social arena with the proper weapon.

The competition between Google+ and Facebook has become the important topic for debate now a days. Although nobody is killing anybody yet, but there will be some bloody blows exchanged in near future. To make it more lively and pictorial, Google+ users (or may be Google itself – who knows!) has already flaming the war by releasing a series of funny but attacking GIF images. Those images are floating around on the Internet (read Google+) on daily basis. This “GIF War” is may be a tomfoolery, but after seeing the images, I had to admit that those are really humorous as well as brilliant. Going on a war and at the same time advertising the Google+ – it is indeed a great idea.

Block Google Buzz updates from your Gmail inbox

Probably you already heard of Google Buzz. It’s the new twitter, actually it is more than twitter. Moreover it is integrated with Gmail inbox! That means you don’t need a separate signing up or signing in to access Google Buzz. Once you sign in to your Gmail inbox and voilà… it is there! The one irritating problem is that every time any one buzz you, that will be stored in your inbox (just like the facebook or other social site’s notifications). Though there is no direct option to disable the buzzes for avoiding your inbox to be flooded but… don’t worry… you can still block those buzzes from pouring your inbox. Or even you can turn off all the buzzes altogether from Inbox and from Buzz.

Block buzz from the Inbox

1. Open your Gmail and click on the Settings from the upper right corner.

2. Select Filters, then click on Create a new filter.

3. Now you’ll find a field named Has the words. In the text field write is:buzz.

Block Annoying Facebook Quizzes

facebook-quiz

At last I’ve gotten rid of Facebook quizzes from my Facebook home page!

I liked the Facebook and I still am. But it is getting ridiculous day by day with the increaments of quizzes. Yes I am talking about the Facebook quizzes. At first those were fun but now a days I am sick of them. Instead of  seeing what my friends are doing, I’ve to see what types of quizzes are they taken. My home page is flooded with quizzes. It was getting out of control until I got the right solution today, thanks to Maroof for pointing out the solution.

Internet Propaganda of a Candidate for the Mayor of Dhaka!

This post is not a Mayoral campaign of Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiky for the Mayor Election of Dhaka 2008. This news is published here because I found it as an interesting news and nothing else.

It looks like Bangladesh is entering cyber world for election campaign! Just in Facebook I’ve seen a Bangladeshi named Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiky is campaigning for the Mayor Election of Dhaka 2008. Well… it amazed me much. I’ve never seen any Bangladeshi candidate running propagnda in cyber world for any kind of election before. And I think we got the first one!

His name is Chowdhury Irad Ahmed Siddiky. He has a Facebook account. He has a regular blog. And he has a campaigning page in Facebook also! It seems that Bangladesh is entering in a new era of election campaigning. Whatever I could remember that once I had read the political blog of Sajib Wajed Joy (son of Sheikh Hasina the former PM of Bangladesh) but for some reason it is now not updating anymore. Apart of this I could not recall any personal site or blog of any of our political persons. In that sense Mr. Siddiky did a great job. Also it is not a bad idea to grab the young generations by wandering in the cyber space. To my concern, nobody had done it before. No doubt that he is a learned person but the question is how perfect is he for the Mayor of Dhaka? Well if you visit is Facebook Campaign page, you’ll find some 200 supporters, and whatever I know rest of the people of Dhaka have hardly heard his name!

I am not going to the argument about his winning chances, but… hey… it is indeed a interesting fact, isn’t it?
