Chronicles of My Last Few Days…

Well… it seems, my career chapter as a university faculty is going to be ended very soon. And I am returning to student life again. For the last few days I was really busy with my admission process in TU Delft for MSc studies. It was really a cumbersome job, to process the visa. Apart of that, this semester in AUST, I conducted the course Linear systems; one of the toughest course in entire bachelor degree of electrical and electronic engineering. It was arduous but I enjoyed it! Most probably I’ve spent my busiest month ever!

Back to the student life

I am returning to my student life, once again! After graduating from IUT, I thought my student life was over. But fate build my career as a teacher (the profession I’d never liked). As a result literally I was not a student but actually it was completely opposite. Every teacher is actually a student! I had to prepare myself for each and every classes (and the preparation was painful than my student life). So though I was addressed as a teacher but I was in fact a student. As a teacher I actually lived a life of a student!

Now as I am going to the Netherlands for higher studies, I have to kept away my current profession and going to the TU Delft as a student. According to the Times Higher Education TU Delft placed the 17th position among all the universities of the world in 2007. Not a bad university at all! I’ve to reach there before September 1st. I am already working on it. So keep me in your prayer for my success.

VISA Processing

Not a cumbersome job in real sense; if you’ve all the necessary papers properly. So here is the point – the necessary papers. In my case I didn’t actually know what are the actual papers. Thats why it took me a whole month to process it. Once you figured it out, then the whole process will be smooth. My advice regarding the visa is always make the list of necessary documents clear from the ambessy.

The Preparation

I am quite busy with shopping right now. My friend Fahim makes my preparation easier. He made a list of necessary stuffs that one should packed while travelling. That list makes the preparation simpler. Though he missed some essential commodities, but over all it is mervellous list for anyone who is travelling to other countries from BAngladesh for the first time. I wish to make that list more details in next year inshallah.

Leaving AUST

I wanted to go Netherland on study leave from AUST. But AUST admin didnot accept my leave letter. Rather they insisted me to resign. They said the leave would be against the rule. And in the last few days, AUST acted that I was actually nobody and did nothing for AUST. It was a shock for me! I don’t actually bother about my job in AUST. But right now I am very much dissapointed with this job. I am trying to resign as soon as possible. Hopefully this week I’ll break up with AUST. Apart of this I will miss my best colleague Shorif Bhai. We joined together in AUST and we shared one room in faculty area. His friendly attitude always forces me to forget that he is senior to me by almost 2 years. I’ll really miss him very very much. After returning Bangladesh if I ever visit AUST it would be for him only and nothing else (if he’ll still be there).

Introducing MAQtanim: My new personal site

Previously I had two websites; one is personal and another one is official. As I am a faculty of AUST, I used the second one to interact with my students. Those two sites were created with the built in templates and features of Google Pages. Those sites surely have some limitations, as Google Pages doesn’t allow to edit their templates. So those two never got a chance to have professional looks. Rather they looks like some novices’ creation. I was very much inclined to update them so that they looks professional and cool.

I’ve just developed my personal site. And hosted them with a nick of MAQTANIM. Well…  who know me in web world they already knew that MAQTANIM is my only favorite nick. Many were surprised why did not I published my earlier websites with the nick MAQTANIM. I used to tell them that those sites were in experimental mode; when I would get time I would publish my own personal site with that famous nick. And I did it! I’ve published my personal site which has a professional outfit and my famous nick! Click here to visit my newly published personal site. This link used the URL redirection. Originally [without URL redirection] it is hosted in my Google Pages account. You can visit the site directly there. And don’t forget to comment in my guest book.

And I also developed another site which will work as a portal between all my sites in web. Because I find it really fascinating to have a gateway for all of my creation. So anyone through only one site can reach me. So here is my new web portal MAQweb. You’ll find all of my sites name (including the oldies) in the right navigation panel. I couldn’t deducted the oldies as they inspired me to express myself in the world wide web. You’ll find them also in the navigation panel. Just remember one site and get in touch of all of my sites!

Rainy Day in the Rainy Season

It seems that my appearance in this blog becomes weekly. Actually I am spending very busy days right now. That’s why I seldom get the chance to write in my blog here. I hope within a short time I’ll be regular again.

The heading of this post sounds little bit stupid, isn’t it? A rainy day in the rainy season – what a nonsense! It rains in rainy season – we all know that. Well I didn’t mean that. for the last several years I didn’t find it raining that much which is usual in rainy season. Those years it rained hardly, most of the ays were dry and shiny. So when I found that this year the rainy season appears in its’ actual image, I found it very emotional. It reminds me my childhood days.

I was brought up in a colony life in Chittagong. In the rainy season, the whole colony was submerged if heavy rainfall occurred. Then we at that time spending our time by floating paper boats on the water. Sometimes we used to play football on that water. That was an unforgettable experience, we were kicking the football which was floating on the water and one couldn’t make the actual kick out of the ball. What a life was that. And sometimes we just jiggled in the water for nothing! I missed those days…

And I enjoy this season. One of the main reason for that is I was born in this season, actually the first day of this season in Bangla calendar. That makes the date 1st day of the Bangla month Aashar. 1st of Aashar, my birthday.

A Tensed Week!

At last the sheep counting is over after keeping all of us in terrible tension for whole two months. I’ve already stated that my little sis has been appeared in SSC examination this year. It has been announced by the Education Board that the result will be published on June 26, that means yesterday. The whole last week we all are in tensed for what will be her result. To our relief by the grace of Almighty, she got A+ in all her subjects, which means her GPA is 5 out of 5. Thanks to Allah for her success. It was too much pleasure for us because she did what I couldn’t in my SSC exam.

In my time, my result didn’t meet my expectation, not even in a slighter chance. I was too shocked after the result that I left Chittagong and came to Dhaka for admitting in college, cause I couldn’t bear that result. I always wanted from my sis what I couldn’t. And now she made it. Thank you little sis.

If you’re reading this article please do me a favour. Just go to her blog and congratulate her for her success. I think she deserve this.

Kung Fu Panda with Firefox3

Well it’s not like that Kung Fu Panda was released with Firefox3! It’s my weekend that came with Kung Fu Panda and Firefox3. So the heading should be “My Weekend: Kung Fu Panda with Firefox3”. But… well… I couldn’t resist myself to do that joke! 😀

At last I’ve watched it! Yeap… I am talking about the animation movie Kung Fu Panda. I’ve been waiting for it. And this waiting was over in this weekend. Actually I always waiting for a good quality DVD print. But my little sis could not bear the awaiting any more and she bought it (and of course with my money) though the screen quality of the DVD was poor. The film is surely worth watching. The film is about panda named Po, who dreams to be a kung fu warrior. Only problem is his bulky body which creates the barrier to become a warrior. But things changed when he was accidentally picked up as the Dragon Warrior by the Tortoise Master Oogway (though Oogway continuosly claimed that choosing Po was not any accident). When Po became the Dragon Warrior, it was obvious that he have to face the evil snow leopard warrior Tai Lung, the former student of Master Shifu. Now it’s Pos’ responsibility to defeat him. But one little proble: Po doesn’t khnow the Kung Fu! I was stunned by the opening of this film. It opens with a hand drawn 2D animated sequence which resembles to Samurai Jack. Traditional Dreamworks opening was also changed!

Another surprise for me in this weekend was the Firefox 3. I’ve been a fan of FF for a long time. FF2 was great for using over the IE7. When I was introduced with Opera and Firefox, I barely used IE since then. Though IE7 has some good features which were not included in FF2, I liked FF2 because of it’s ease of use. And now it launches the version 3. First impression after opening the FF3 was just “WOW!”. A cool interface with all buttons in appropriate palces. I’ve not used it so much yet, so can’t discuss all the new features. But one thing amused me, FF3 can zoom the page with text and pictures together.

Well… a pretty good weekend, huh? An worth watching movie and the new upgradation of the best browser in the world.

Aabjaab: My New (Bangla) Blog

I’ve just created another blog. It’s another personal blog of mine. I’ve already have one, why the hell I created another one? Actually it is more likely a memory storage than a blog. I’ve a very simple life (who knows me will agree in this point). But when I saw them back they seem to be the golden days of my tiny life. So why don’t I share them with others? Memories are sweet. They are sweeter when they are reminisced. Bur they are even sweetest when they are shared with others. And this thought allured me to create this blog.

This time I’ve chosen Blogspot for publishing it. Why Blogspot? First – unlike WordPress it allows any templates for using in blog. Secondly (the most important) – I need a URL containing my favorite nick “maqtanim”. This blog is written in Bangla. Because I find it more comfortable to write my past memories in Bangla. No language favors me so much like Bangla to express my exact feelings.

I always prefer WordPress for blogging as it is easy to use and it has some really breathtaking premium themes. Personally I liked Brian Gardner‘s template. But as WordPress doesn’t allow editing CSS layout (in free of cost) in their DOT COM version, I had no chance to use Brian’s marvelous themes in my WordPress blog. Recently I got the XML code of the Revolution Theme (one of the Brian’s Finest creation for wordpress) for Blogger and it took me thinking why I am not using this theme in Blogspot? I’ve polished the CSS layout as my requirements. And… well … I did what I’ve thought. And now the site is up!

I was puzzled to give it a proper name. Then I named it as “Aabjaab”. I saw this word in a book written by Ahsan Habib. Ahsan Habib is a leading cartoonist and the editor of Unmad, the only satire magazine of Bangladesh. What does Aabjaab means? It means totally scrap or trash! I don’t think my life is that much interesting that I can write it in a literary way like the famous writers (actually I am not a writer, not in a slightest chance 😀 ). Which means all my stuffs are just no more than junk!

Enough talking. Now just go to my new blog and give me your feed back. I am eagerly waiting for the first comment in my new blog.

A Hard Week and A Penguine!

I am writing this post after almost 10 days. A long gap indeed. I was terribly busy with something or you can say nothing! What are those something-nothing stuffs? I’ve just created personal blogs for myself and for my little sister. Another personal blogs? This time the new blog is my Bangla blog, written all through in Bangla. Just take a look at my new blog. I’ve also created another blog for my little sister (she is new in blogosphere). Well, that task was not that much simple. As Blogger gives the opportunity to edit the CSS layout, I took that chance for both of the blogs (though I don’t know CSS that much). I’ve searched the net for appropriate templates. When I finally got them, I found that those templates were not working perfectly and they need some modifications. So be it! I took the templates and modified them according to my own choice. And they have been finished!

An unbearable incident happened within this time too. I got a terrible shock when I found out one of my close person as an impostor. What will be happened to you if you found that your faithful friend was just playing with your faith? The feelings can’t be portrayed. Not only me, he conned other persons of my close circle too! No one have ever been cheated me in such a way in my entire life as he did. Just a shock, a terribly blow for me. To make it worst the incident spread out to almost everyone I know by the grace of internet! Imagine the situation, everyone is contacting me to know whether he is fraud or not. Horrible situation! This incident also causing my delay in writing post to my blog. I pray to Almighty that no one would ever go through this type of situation.

This week I watched a new movie for which I’ve been waiting for months. As in Bangladesh, we have no scope to watch Hollywood’s movies in theater, we used to buy DVDs. But all DVDs don’t have the good quality. So for collecting a better quality of DVD, we sometimes wait for several months after the theatrical release of a movie. I bought the DVD this week. The movie is Dr. Seuss’s Horton Hears a Who! Two of my favorite actors are in the leading roles- Jim Carrey and Steve Carell. The movie is worth enjoying. If you are an animation movie lover and did not seen it yet, then I’ve one word for you – “Poor chap”! And I am waiting for other five movies: fourth installment of Indiana Jones, Ironman, Kungfu Panda, Speed Racer and Get Smart.

And here comes the penguin. Actually it has no relation with the above incidents. I got a flash game link from Ishmeet’s blog. And from that I am playing this game whenever I am connected to net. This game is about penguins. I’ve scored 320.3 and this is my best score till now. Here is a screen shot of the score at the end of this post. It becomes an addiction for me. I am trying to get rid of it (I’ve not played it from yesterday to till now).

Rarikhal Tour: Taste of Bangladesh

I’ve seen the vista of Bangla,

So that I am not questing after the beauty of the world.

Jibonanondo Daas

Have you thought of how much true the above lines are? We all are familiar with these line from our school life as the whole poem of Jibonanondo Daas was in our text book. But I bet we never felt it the same way as Jibonanondo. City life has taken our natural environment. We live in artificial places where green colour only appears in the brick built wall as wall-paint. The green trees are faded in an increasing rate. But the village are still holding the verdurous beauty of Bangladesh. I am here to narrate such a village which still reminds the verdant Bangladesh. Name of this village is Rarikhal, which is situated in the Munshiganj district (widely known as Bikrompur). This is my grandma’s (my mother’s mom) home village.

Grandma’s one of the brother is rebuilding their village home. So when my grandma heard that after the SSC exam my sister has a long vacation, she invited to visit the newly rebuilt house. And this invitation led us to Rarikhal (yesterday), one of the famous village of Bangladesh.
